Miss Ruby is an LA based vintage hair dresser and makeup artist, or magician, if you will. To quote a Vintage Vanity, she’s a “hair genius”. She does all the hair and makeup for the Pinup Girl Clothing models so you’ve probably seen a lot of her handy work.
The first was the “Poodle” it was made popular by Betty Grable in the 40s. It’s a gorgeous updo great for a casual or more formal evening. She did this great style on Lindsay, the manager of Endless Indulgence Salt Lake.
I will add a link add at the bottom of this blog to Miss. Ruby’s Youtube demonstrating the style on herself.
I can’t tell you how awesome she was, Ruby isn’t some Beverly Hills snob, she is a really fun PERSON! She has great stories, she is hilarious, and she is good at what she does.
Now, while I’m also talking about awesome people, the next model Ruby used was Carrie, the owner of Endless Indulgence. Carrie is also amazing, she never lets you leave her shop in anything less than beautiful
She knows what she’s doing and she’s also really fun to be with! I love how much she gets to know her customers, they had wine and beer available and of course Carrie remembers I’m 18 so she makes sure I get my water.
The style that Ruby did on Carrie is one of my favorite’s, a classic pageboy. It’s a very neat style that is also great for casual or formal, and can be done on long or short hair with just a few modifications. This is another style that you can find on her YouTube so I will post the link for this one as well. I really want to try it out on my hair! |
The final style was a gorgeous set of waves on Gwyn, or as Ruby named it “the sassafrass brassafrass”
Although to get the really crafted waves you would need to go to a stylist she did a more casual version that could be done by yourself. I’ve been dying to know how to get the gorgeous S Waves and now I finally know. | Ruby also answered all of my questions about setting curls in my hair using heat, since that is something I struggle with. I can’t wait to use my new curling iron and give one of her sets a try! |
