One night, I couldn't sleep. I opened up Facebook and found a Buzzfeed article all about shaving your legs and why it sucks. I decided it would be fun to write a partly satire and partly serious article about our Pinup Problems. I asked my Facebook friends, Instagram followers, and a couple of other bloggers for their input, this is what we came up with!
1. “I’m just winging it, my life, my eyeliner, everything”
I’ve tried the spoon, tape, I’ve tried all the tricks but nothing works better than free hand. Pencil is the easiest type of liner to master because most minor fixes are just a smudge away. But for the classic look, pencil probably isn’t the route you should go. Liquid liner creates a precise line for expert glam appeal, but calls for a steady hand. |
The superfine and flexible brush tip glides across the lashline for incredibly fluid application, allowing you to create a variety of looks with ease, and Tattoo Liner is completely free of animal-derived ingredients and is not tested on animals.
2. When your hair looks so good right before you wash it!
Ah yes, we all know this feeling. it goes hand in hand with #3 you’re on your last day of hair. The curls are fluffy and bouncy, maybe your swoop is absolute perfection and there your are, trying to decide do I get one more day out of this or do I wash it?
I’ve found some middle ground. I take about 600 pictures of it, to document how great it looked before I hopped into the shower to wash out pounds of different hair spray, dry shampoo, and pomade. But let's be honest, even though it’s sad to wash out a good hair day, cleaning out all that product and back combing feels pretty good too.
3. “Some days your hair is mostly dry shampoo, hairspray, and hope”
I hate this feeling, I wake up and I’m staring at a tousle of black curls and part of me wants to cry and then the other part, that’s not yet paralyzed with the fear of a bad hair day picks up my back combing brush and my dry shampoo (that smells like cherries).
A few months back I was struggling with my curl sets, I asked my little Instagram friend Jessica for her advice, of course the answer was dirty hair so I invested in a shower cap and now my hair game is better than ever, so when I decided to write this blog I knew the person to ask for help on this topic would be Jessica! Here is what she had to say:
“As a girl with brightly colored hair and pin up dreams, I am no stranger to the wonders of a spritz of dry shampoo and a thick coating of hairspray. Each of the photos below was done on three day (or more) old hair that was revived and shaped into something acceptable to leave the house in. Although, most days I can have some kind of idea what I want to do with this mop of pink locks, every once in awhile I am lost.
In those moments I remember these few things. 1. Dry shampoo can give your bangs new life. 2. Braids are your friends and they hide that tease you put in a few days ago. And the most important of all. 3. If you are at the end of your good hair days and you just want to hide it all, scarves are your friends. Plus if worn properly they can totally make it look like you tried! Everyday my hair is 30% hairspray, 30% dry shampoo, and 40% hope."
